A Basket of Summer Fruit by Mrs. C. H. (Susannah) Spurgeon, Edited by Dr. Teresa Suttles

A Basket of Summer Fruit is a rich devotional book written by Susannah Spurgeon (Mrs. C. H. Spurgeon) after the death of her beloved husband Charles H. Spurgeon.  She writes: "...how much we have to bless Him for, and what sweet encouragement is given to our gratitude by His assurance, 'Whoever offers praise glorifies Me!' How often are we told, in His Word, that He takes delight in our thanksgivings and songs! The praise we render is dearer to Him than that of angels—for they cannot bless Him for redeeming love, for pardoned sin, and the blessed hope of resurrection glory."

This is the first of three books by Mrs. Spurgeon written during this time of great grief for her loss but of great encouragement from her God.  Others will surely find here as well much consolation in her meditation of the unchanging Jehovah amidst the changing and often difficult seasons of our lives.

The Baptism of Believers Only by Thomas Baldwin, D. D.

Out of print for more than two hundred years, Dr. Thomas Baldwin, pastor of Boston's Second Baptist Church in the early nineteenth century, addresses the critical questions of "Who?" and "How?" in relation to baptism, weaving them into the context of close communion, as well as answering a broad range of pædobaptist arguments and exegesis. Dr. Baldwin's magnum opus, first published in 1806, admirably and convincingly argues for the historic Baptist position on these vital matters of Baptist life and polity. This reprint of Baldwin's apologetic has been reset in modern type with additional commentary and expanded original footnotes.
